CASHMAN DEAD New Oxford Loses One of Her Most Prominent Citizens Zelotus H. Cashman, one of New Oxford’s most prominent citizens, died Wednesday, July 19, following a long illness and was directly the result of hardening of the arteries. His wage was about 85 years. Mr. Cashman suffered a stroke about three years ago, and has been in failing health since. He has been confined to his bed about two months. Throughout his life Mr. Cashman was prominently identified with the business life of New Oxford. For many years he conducted a warehouse there, but sold that business about ten years ago and has been living retired. He was a director of the Farmers and Merchants Bank of New Oxford and served several terms as a school director. Mr. Cashman was at one time a commissioner of Adams county. He is survived by his wife, who was formerly Miss Rebecca Bender, of Hanover, and five children as follows: Dr. B. Z. Cashman, Pittsburgh; Arthur Cashman, Columbus, Ohio; Mrs. Moses Baker, Pittsburgh and Mrs. Maude Diehl and Miss Lottie Cashman, at home. He also leaves two sisters, Mrs. Jamison, living in Colorado, and Mrs. Tura Cashman, Straban township, Adams County, and one brothers, Clinton Cashman, New Oxford. Mr. Cashman was a member of the Lutheran church of New Oxford. He belonged to the Masonic Lodge of New Oxford and was a member of the P. O. S. of A. Funeral, Monday morning, meeting at the house at 10 a.m. Services will be conducted by the Rev. C. W. Baker, his pastor. Interment in New Oxford cemetery. The Hanover Herald – Saturday, July 29, 1916
