Elmer Cook, one of the most prominent physicians of Harrisburg, died Saturday, January 18, at his home in that place, after a brief illness. He had not been well for the past few months, but was not seriously ill until about three weeks ago, when his condition became critical. He was in the 57th year of his age. Dr. Cook was born in Floradale, Adams county, his father being Thomas E. Cook, who was engaged in agricultural pursuits, and died in Floradale, at the age of 79 years. Dr. Cook was educated in the public schools, and in 1862 enlisted in Co. G, 128th Pennsylvania Volunteers, and was mustered out at Harrisburg, in June, 1865. He participated in all the battles of the Potomac, and was severely injured in the right leg at the battle of Fisher's Hill, Va. The funeral took place on Tuesday at Floradale, this county. Services were held at the late home of the deceased, on Pine street, Monday evening, and were conducted by Rev. Dr. I. W. Bagley, pastor of Baptist church, Second and Pine streets.
