Danner died suddenly at her home on the Square on Wednesday night. She had been in her usual health during the day and had been enjoying the company of friends in her usual spritly and happy manner during the evening. After retiring her sister, Mrs. Rinewald, went to her room and Miss Annie complained of being nervous and before medical aid could be summoned passed away. Miss Annie Danner was the eldest daughter of the late Joel R. Danner, Congressman in 1850 from the Adams-York District. She lived her entire life at the family residence in the Center Square and was the last of the family occupying this residence. She was a remarkable woman, well read and of unusual brightness, and witty. She was the life of any gathering and no one ever had the blues in her company. She was devoted to children and was the teacher of the Infant Department of Trinity Reformed Sunday School for over fifty years and had received a badge from John Wannamaker which she highly prized for her Sunday School work. In her last years there were few days she did not entertain children at her home and there are hosts of children grown up in whose hearts and memory she is warmly cherished. She was always active in Church and Sunday School work. Funeral services will be held on Monday morning at 10:30 by her pastor, Rev. Paul R. Pontius and interment will be made in the Evergreen Cemetery. One sister survives, Mrs. Chas. Reinewald, of Emmitsburg. Gettysburg Compiler – Saturday, February 28, 1920
