Mr. DeGroft moved from his Farm in Adams County to Harrisburg nine years ago and since moving to that city has been living a retired life on Allison Hill. During the Civil War he was a private in Company D. 15th Infantry, and saw service in several skirmishes in the mountains of Northern Georgia and Tennessee. He inlisted April 14, 1864, and was mustered out April 14, 1867. He was a member of Post 58, Grand Army of the Republic, of Harrisburg. He is survived by tow sons, George DeGroft, of Harrisburg, and John DeGroft of Mont Alto; two daughters, Mrs. C. B. Trostle of Harrisburg, and Mrs. H. E. Fritz, of Chambersburg. Funeral services were held on Thursday evening by the Grand Army of the Republic, with further services on Friday morning by Rev. J. C. Forncrook, with interment at Flohr's Church Cemetery. Additional Comments: James Henry DeGroft was born 20 March 1847 and was married to Catherine Sophia [STULTZ] DeGroft.
