The cause of death was acute nephritis (kidney trouble), after only several days’ sickness. She was aged 28 years and 11 days. She was the second oldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. D. Edward Shriver of Hanover, and was married to Dr. Eugene Elgin, a young physician of East Berlin, last April. Besides her husband and parents, she is survived by five sisters, Misses Edna Z., Bruce E., Eva, Bernice, and Marguerite Shriver, all at home, and a brother, Walter Shriver, of near Hampton. For some time before her marriage she had been employed at the Prowell Millinery. Funeral was Tuesday, brief services at her late home in East Berlin and further services were held in the memorial chapel in the Hanover Cemetery by Rev. Geo. W. Nicely of St. Mark’s Church, and Rev. F. C. Sternat of the East Berlin Lutheran Church. Gettysburg Compiler – Saturday, September 1, 1917
