Fleshman Following an illness of seven weeks from infirmities of age, Tobias H. Fleshman, a well-known an highly respected citizen of Adams county, died at his late home, South street (Midway), at 7 a.m., Saturday, July 8th. He was aged 74 years, 7 months and 1 day. The deceased was a son of the late John and Catharine (Eckenrode) Fleshman, and was born in Mt. Pleasant Township, Adams Co., December 7, 1841. When a young man he went to Red Hill, Adams County, where for seven years he was engaged in the lime business. Later the family moved to the old Fleshman homestead where he resided until he retired from active work in 1898 and moved to his present home in Midway. He is survived by a widow who was Miss Salome Marshall, daughter of the late Francis and Elizabeth Marshall, of Oxford Township, and the following children: Madame Fleshman, of Sacred Heart Convent, Rochester, N. Y.; Sister St. Rita, of the Ursaline Order, St. Peter’s Mission, Montana; Mrs. Clement Lingg, Mrs. Joseph Glass, of Oxford Township; Mrs. Elmer Altland, Mrs. Joseph Pohlman, Mt. Pleasant Township; Frank Fleshman, of Silvia, Ill.; Peter Fleshman, of New Oxford, and Tobias Fleshman, at home. Also three sisters, Sister Berchmans, St. Joseph’s Convent, McSherrystown, Mrs. Lewis Klunk, of McSherrystown, and Miss Kate Fleshman, of Gettysburg. Funeral, Tuesday, July 11th, from St. Vincent’s church, requiem high mass at 9 a.m., Rev. Joseph Murphy officiating. Interment on the family lot in Mt. Olivet cemetery.
