Gallagher, of this place had almost reached the age of four score, when he met with a fall which proved the immediate cause of his death at about noon on last Friday. He had fallen about ten days before breaking his hip. He was carried to his bed and never recovered from the shock, gradually sinking until the end. Mr. Gallagher was one of the few surviving citizens of the town at one time actively engaged in the biggest business the town ever knew, coach making, being an expert in the body making branch. Mr. Gallagher during the active years of his life, was a devoted, zealous Democrat and was elected County Treasurer for the term of 1873-1875. Death came when he was one month short of 80 years of age. The funeral was held on Monday, services by Rev. Dr. J. A. Clutz with interment in Evergreen Cemetery. He leaves two sons and five daughters, Chas. M. Gallagher of Harrisburg, Wm. B. Gallagher of Altoona, Mrs. Wilson of West Virginia, Mrs. J. D. W. Deardorff, Mrs. Lewis Meals, Mrs. Harry Troxell and Miss Minnie Gallagher, all of this place. Gettysburg Compiler – Wednesday, December 5, 1906
