Group, a lifelong resident of Adams county and a well known retired farmer of Idaville, died on Monday following a stroke of paralysis which he suffered two days previously. Mr. Group was born near Idaville, a son of Jesse Group. At the time of his death he was aged 72 years, 5 months, and 27 days. He followed the occupation of farming in that vicinity the greater part of his life retiring few years ago and moving to Idaville. He was married to Miss Ella Starner, Idaville, who survives together with the following children: N. L. Group, and Warren Group, Idaville; Inglebert Group, Cornwall, and Mrs. Annie Erb, Reading; one brother, Jesse L. Group, Idaville, and a sister, Mrs. Jacob Richwine, Hunters Run, are also living. He was a veteran of the Civil war, having served in Company C, 101st Regiment Penna. Vol. Infantry, under Captain Fitchorn and Colonel David Morris. He was honorably discharged June 25, 1865. Mr. Group was a member of the Eldon Post, G. A. R., Bendersville. He was a life-long member of the United Evangelical church, Idaville, and took an active part as trustee and class leader.
