Hankey died in Gettysburg, Jan. 17, aged 83 years, 1 month and 11 days. Death was due directly to the shock of the death of his son, Rev. U. A. Hankey, who died January 3 at New Kensington. He was born in Mount Joy township and moved to Gettysburg about twenty years ago. During is residence in Mt. Joy township he was a farmer. He leaves his wife, and three daughters, Mrs. John Duttera, and Mrs. Vincent Garrett, of Hanover; Mrs. Charles King, of Mount Joy township. Funeral Wednesday at 2 o’clock from the house. Rev. P. L. Stockslager, pastor of Mt. Joy Lutheran church, officiating. Interment in Evergreen cemetery, Gettysburg. The Hanover Herald – Saturday, January 22, 1916
