Harner died Wednesday morning at 7:30 o’clock at her late home on Lumber street. For the past thirteen months she had been confined to bed, and a great sufferer. During that time her illness was so serious that she was not told of the deaths of her son Russell Harner, at Bellewood; her sister, Mrs. Lucy Shaunessy, at York, and her nephew, Ralph Thomas, at York. Her brother, Mr. Alvin Weigert(?), of Washington, D.C., is now critically ill. Mrs. Harner was the daughter of the late David and Maria Wiekert. She was born in this place in 1843, and in 1868 was united in marriage to Mr. Sylvester Harner, who died in 1885. Mrs. Harner was a member of the Methodist Church and prior to her illness always attended the services and took part in various church activities. By her many charitable acts and her kindness she endeared herself to many who mourn her passing. She was aged 78 years, 3 months and 27 days, and is survived by the following children: Mr. Kansas Harner, of York; Mr. Ross Harner, of Philadelphia; Mr. Morris Harner, of Jersey City; Mr. Guy Harner, of Yonkers, N.Y.; Mr. F. Jordan Harner, of Troy, N.Y.; Mrs. U. C. Gutelius, of Philadelphia, and Miss Jennie, at home. Also by two brothers, Messrs. Alvin and Mark Weikert, of Washington, D.C.; one sister, Mrs. J. B. Jordan, of Danville, and nine grandchildren. The funeral will be held this Saturday afternoon, services at the house at 1:30 o’clock, followed by services in the M. E. church, Rev. Samuel Strain officiating. Interment will be made in Mt. Carmel cemetery. Adams County Independent, February 24, 1922
