Hesson Franklin David Hesson, veteran of the Civil war, retired carriage manufacturer, and a well known resident of Littlestown, died Monday evening from apoplexy. He was stricken several days ago and his condition became steadily worse until death occurred. Mr. Hesson was aged about 72 years. He was born in Carroll county, near Silver Run, and early in life moved to Littlestown, where he engaged in the business of carriage manufacturing, forming a partnership with S. D. Mehring and operating under the firm name of Mehring & Hesson. Later he went into business for himself and followed this occupation until about eighteen years ago when he retired. Mr. Hesson was a veteran of the Civil war, a member of the Littlestown camp, P. O. S. of A., and active as an elder in the Reformed church for many years. He leaves his wife, who, before marriage, was Miss Barbara Staley, and three children, Rev. T. C. Hesson, of Arendtsville; Frank Hesson and Mrs. Samuel Rebert, of Littlestown. He also leaves three sisters, Miss Annie Hesson and Miss Amanda Hesson, of Littlestown; and Mrs. Susan Keller, of York. Funeral from his late home, Thursday, March 23d, services at the house at 9:30 a.m., conducted by Rev. Milton Whitener. Interment in Mt. Carmel cemetery. The Hanover Herald – Saturday, March 25, 1916
