Hockensmith, 71, of 23 E. Locust Lane, New Oxford, died suddenly Tuesday, May 22, at Hanover Hospital. Born in New Oxford, she was the daughter of the late John L. and Frances D. Strausbaugh Moore. She was the wife of Leo W. Hockensmith. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in New Oxford. In addition to her husband, she is survived by one daughter, Frances M. Smith of Hanover; three sons, Leo W. Hockensmith Jr. and Robert E. Hockensmith, both of Aspers, and Bernard J. Hockensmith of Gettysburg; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Pauline Shermeyer of Gettysburg, Theresa Todt of New Oxford, and Mary Agnes Little of Hanover; and three brothers, Raymond Moore and Karl Moore, both of Hanover and Charles Moore of New Oxford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, May 26, at 10 a.m. from Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with her pastor Monsignor Lawrence Overbaugh serving as celebrant. Family and friends may meet at Feiser Funeral Home Inc. at 9:15 a.m. to proceed to church. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call Thursday at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. with prayers at 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, Adams County.
