Hodgson, 74, of . . . died Sunday morning, Sept. 29, 1996 at his home. He was the husband of Julia H. (Markle) Hodgson. Born Feb. 20, 1922, in York, he was the son of the late Philip W. and Bertha K. (Kerchner) Hodgson. He was a member of Emmanuel United Church of Christ, Abbottstown, Liberty Fire Co. 1 in East Berlin, Richard J. Gross Post 8896 VFW in East Berlin, served in World War II in the Marines and retired in 1984 from National Can Corp. in Hanover. Surviving also are a daughter, Judy A. Messinger of East Berlin, and a grandson. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Gladys Spangler and Betty Jacobs. A graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family with the Rev. Douglas Hahn, pastor of St. John’s United Church of Christ, New Chester, officiating. There will be no viewing. Feiser Funeral Home Inc., 306 Harrisburg St., East Berlin, is in charge of the funeral arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to the National Kidney Foundation, York Chapter, 29 E.
