All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/pa/adams/ _______________________________________________ Mrs. Edward Horwedel Mrs. Mary Magdaline Horwedel, widow of the late Edward Horwedel, died at her late home No. 349 Main Street, McSherrystown, Saturday, June 3, at 8 p.m. after a prolonged illness from infirmities. Her illness was only of a serious nature during the past four months. She was aged 83 years, 5 months and 2 days. The deceased was a daughter of the late Valentine and Maria Shuntz and was born in France, January 1, 1838. When an infant she was brought to America by her parents who moved in Baltimore, Md., later moving to Adams county, where the most of her life was spent. She was married to Mr. Horwedel in Conewago Chapel, April 6, 1855, by the late Rev. Fr. Enders. Her husband died about 46 years ago. Mrs. Horwedel was for many years a member of Conewago Chapel until moving to McSherrystown fourteen years ago when she became a communicant of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. She leaves the following children: Rev. F. X. Horwedel, S. J., of Holy Cross, Wooster, Mass.; Pius Horwedel, of the O’Bold Mill; Rev. Edward Horwedel, S. J., Holy Cross Mission, Alaska; Mrs. Michael Adams, Mrs. Josephine Kinder, of Main St., McSherrystown, and Mrs. James W. Hare, at home. There are also 23 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren. Funeral, Wednesday, June 7, requiem high mass in St. Mary’s church at 9 a.m. Rev. L. Aug. Reudter officiating. Interment on the family lot in Conewago Chapel cemetery.
