New Oxford Item Fri Jul 16 1897
Jacob Johns died at his home in McSherrystown, Tuesday afternoon, aged 43 years
and 1 day. Mr. Johns was a son of Mrs. Elizabeth Johns, of the Union Hotel,
McSherrystown. He had been suffering from enlargement of the liver and glands
for some time. He was married to Miss Sarah C. Rider, daughter of the late John
Rider, of White Hall, Dec. 20, 1871. Mr. Johns was the father of 9 children,
four of whom with his wife, survive him. He for several years carried on the
butchering business at White Hall.
