Mrs. Sarah Johns, widow of Jacob Johns, of McSherrystown, died at her home in Philadelphia, on Wednesday evening, April 8th, of Bright's disease, aged about 50 years. Deceased was a daughter of the late John Rider of Red Land, and her husband a son of Mrs. Eliza Johns, of McSherrystown. Her husband died in 1897, and about two years ago she moved to Philadelphia, where she kept a boarding house until her health failed. She was in a hospital for several months. She is survived by three daughters: Mrs. Clarence Dudrear, of York, Mrs. Steven Bott, of St. Louis, Mo., and Mrs. John Bonner, of Philadelphia, and one son, Preston, of Philadelphia. Also, by two sisters, Mrs. Thomas Adas, of York, and Miss Ellen Rider, of Red Land, and five brothers: John, of Hanover, Fraink of McSherrystown, Thos and Jacob, of York, and Jos. of near Littlestown. Her remains were brought to Hanover Friday morning on the 8:45 train and taken to St. Joseph's Catholic church, where services were held; Rev. Father Foin officiating.
