Keeport, for many years a resident of Littlestown, died last Thursday evening at 8:30 o'clock at the home of his son Mark, in Reading. Death was due to old age and general debility. His age was 96 years 10 months and 2 days. Notwithstanding his advanced age Mr. Keeport was about the house as usual and had eaten a hearty supper before retiring Thursday evening. Death ensued shortly after he retired The deceased was born in Lancaster county. When about 20 years of age he came to Littlestown as a tutor in the LeFevre family. Later he taught in the old academy. Mr. Keeport was a chemist and held diplomas from several institutions. He was a master of twelve sciences. He was the author of a book on "Life Theology" and was awarded a life membership and gold medal from the Parisian Academy, France, for his discovery that gold and platinum exist negatively in their salts or ores. Mrs. Keeport died about three years ago. Mr. and Mrs. Keeport moved to Reading about eight years ago. The deceased is survived by one daughter, Mrs. J. W. Hickey, of Littlestown, and two sons, Mark and Emory Keeport, of Reading.
