She was born in Arendtsville, February 4, 1817, a daughter of Henry and Catherine Hoffman. She was married in 1840 to Edward Menchey who died 34 years ago. Mrs. Menchey has lived in the house where she now resides since her marriage. She has been a member of St. James Church, for a long time. On her 90th birthday anniversary, the Rev. J. B. Baker, her pastor, conducted a service at her home. Surviving her are the following children: Edward, James H. and John A. Menchey, and Mrs. Fannie Yeagy, Gettysburg, and Mrs. Rebecca Geiman, Hanover. Eighteen grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren are also living. The Hanover Herald – Saturday, April 22, 1916
