Fatal Accident Took Place in McSherrystown While Returning From An Evening Ride – Death Spread Pall Over the Community. A pall fell over McSherrystown and vicinity Friday evening, when it was learned that Miss Natalie Noel, the popular and accomplished daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edward A. Noel, was thrown from a horse she was riding and sustained injuries, from the effects of which death ensued a few hours later. The sad accident took place at the corner of North and Church streets, about 6 o’clock Friday evening, when Miss Noel was returning from an evening ride, as was her usual custom. She was coming in Church street and at the intersection of North street, the horse wheeled abruptly to the left, throwing her to the street. Her head struck the street car track and she was rendered unconscious. James Conrad, John Lawrence and Aaron Spangler, who were in the Conrad store, carried the unfortunate girl to her home. Dr. Geo. L. Rice and Dr. A. C. Rice were then rushed to the house and did all in their power to save her life, but death followed at midnight from concussion of the brain, without regaining consciousness. The horse ran to the stable, where it was caught. Miss Noel was one of McSherrystown’s best-known young ladies. She was a graduate of St. Mary’s parochial school and of the York School of Business. For the past five years she has been employed as a clerk in the office of the J. S. Young Co., Hanover. The deceased studied music in St. Joseph’s Academy and display remarkable talent. She was a charter member of St. Mary’s Cecelian club and two months ago was elected secretary. It is recalled that he grandfather, the late Adam Noel, of Mt. Rock, was killed by a horse about twenty years ago, also a great-uncle was killed in the same manner. The entire community extend their sympathy to Mr. and Mrs. Noel in this sad hour of bereavement.
