Rodney A. Poist

Rodney A. Poist, 68, of 116 Duffland St., Pittsburgh, died Friday morning at St. 
John’s Medical Building in Steubenville, Ohio.

Mr. Poist was born in McSherrystown, a son of the late Edward F. and Adah 
Swartzbaugh Poist.  He was the husband of the late Josephine Jordan Poist.

Mr. Poist was a member of St. Basil’s Church, Pittsburgh.  He is survived by 
four brothers and three sisters:  Ralph B., Baltimore; Albert J., 323 Main St., 
McSherrystown; Richard F., 127 DeGuy Ave., Hanover; and William L., 359 North 
St., McSherrystown; Mrs. Milton Sterner, 359 North St., McSherrystown; Mrs. 
Cletus E. Krumrine, Westminster, Md., R. 2; and Mrs. Vincent Walter, South 
Lebanon, Ohio.

Mr. Poist was a member of the McSherrystown Moose Lodge and the McSherrystown 
Fire Company.  He was also a member of the American Legion Post 540 Pittsburgh, 
and of the VFW Post 418 in McKeesrock, Pa.  He was a veteran of World War II, 
and served with the US Army in Europe.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, meeting at the Hicks Funeral Home, 
McSherrystown at 8:30 a.m., and followed by a mass of Christian burial at 
Annunciation Church at 9 a.m.  The Rev. Paul M. Miller will be celebrant.  
Burial will be in Annunciation Cemetery.  Friends may call at the funeral home 
Monday evening.  Prayers will be a 8:30 p.m. Monday.
