All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/pa/adams/ _______________________________________________ John Rife John Rife, one of the best known farmers of this section, died at 10 p.m. Sunday, October 20th, on the homestead farm at Brushtown, Adams county, from infirmities. He was aged 84 years and 28 days. The deceased had been in failing health for several years, but declined more rapidly since receiving a slight stroke of paralysis about a year ago. Mr. Rife was a son of the late Abraham Rife and was born on the farm where he spent all the years of his life. His wife, who died about ten years ago, was a Miss Schwartz, of Adams county. He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Annie Swope of Bonneauville, and five sons, Abraham Rife, Spring Grove; Morgan Rife, New Oxford; Jesse Rife, Brushtown; Emory Rife, Midway, and Clinton Rife, near Gettysburg. Funeral from his late home Thursday, Oct. 24, brief services at 9 a.m. Further services in St. Matthew’s Lutheran church, Hanover, Rev. A. M. Heilman officiating. Interment in Mt.
