Riley died on Saturday, January 8th, aged 87 years, 1 month and 18 days, being the oldest citizen of Freedom township. Mr. Riley had been a resident of Adams county almost all his life. For eight years he lived out of the State, moving back shortly after the civil war. The funeral service was held on Tuesday of last week in St. Joseph’s Catholic church, Emmitsburg. The interment was made in the churchyard. He is survived by three children: Vincent A., and Margaret O., at home, and Annie E., of Emmitsburg; six granddaughters who resided with their grandfather, and two brothers, Barney Riley, of Gettysburg, and Michael Riley, of Reading.
