At an early hour last Friday evening two young men named Harry Rhorer and Charles Furst, residing on Dook street, this city, jumped on a Pennsylvania freight train at the Market street crossing, intending to ride to Highspire. Young Rohrer seated himself upon the edge of a coal car, and everything went well until near Steelton, when the engine broke loose from the train. The engineer on discovering the break reversed his engine and backed up against the car. The unexpected jolt threw Rohrer under the train which passed over his body, mangling and smashing it in a horrible manner. His body was brought to this city on the Middletown Accomodation and placed in the dead house near the Pennsylvania railroad station. Coroner Shindler impanelled a jury, which rendered a verdict in accordance with the above facts. Harry Rohrer, formerly resided here with his father, Daniel Rohrer, who was employed on the Frederick division of P.R.R., and they only removed to Harrisburg about the 1st of April. Young Rohrer was a bright looking young man aged about 17 years, and when here made many friend among our young people. This is another bright gem plucked from life just when it is he sweetest..-"From Harrisburg paper." The Independent, Littlestown, Adams County, PA, June 13, 1891
