Killed in Auto Accident

Charles Schaeffer, son of Mrs. Louisa Schaeffer, of Gettysburg, was killed last 
Saturday at Taft, California, in an automobile accident.

Mr. Schaeffer was out riding with another man Saturday morning when the machine 
skidded, pinning Mr. Schaeffer, who had been driving, beneath.  His companion 
found that he could not get him out and walked to Taft for help.  When he 
returned the man was dead.

Mr. Schaeffer was thirty-four years old and unmarried.  He had been living in 
Taft, a new California town, for some time.  Mrs. Schaeffer, his mother, has 
been living with her son-in-law, Harry Oyler, in Gettysburg for five years, 
since the death of her second husband.  Prior to that the family lived in the 
state of Indiana.
