J. Lawrence Schick

J. Lawrence Schick, one of the oldest business men of Adams county, died at his home in 
Gettysburg, Saturday evening.  He would have been ninety-one years old on Christmas Day.  Mr. 
Schick was one of the oldest Odd Fellows in the state.  He was treasurer of Getty’s lodge for 
the past 42 years.  He was a member of the Methodist church all his life and was treasurer of 
the Gettysburg church for more than half a century.  For over 40 years he conducted a dry good 
store in Gettysburg and after retiring conducted an insurance business.  He was the son of J. 
L. and Susan Holtzworth Schick, the latter of York county.  He leaves five children.
