Seiss, for many years a practicing physician of Taneytown, but who moved to Washington, D.C., nearly three years ago, died at his home in Tacoma Park, Washington, on Saturday at 5:15 p.m. He had been in his usual health until July 4th, when he attended a picnic and had just returned home, and expressed having had an enjoyable day, and suddenly remarked to Mrs. Seiss that he felt dizzy in his head, and a few minutes later was stricken with apoplexy, after which he never regained consciousness. Dr. Seiss held a position in the Department of the Interior for a short time after going to Washington, and since that time has been engaged in the practice of medicine. He was a much loved physician, and Taneytown never lost its high regard for him, and never forgot his friendship. His body was brought to this place on Monday evening, and the funeral was conducted from the home of his uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Washington Shoemaker on Tuesday at 10 a.m. The high esteem in which Dr. Seiss was held was evidenced by the large number of people who attended the funeral, the large auditorium of the Lutheran church being filled with his old friends and neighbors. The service was in charge of his pastor Rev. L. B. Hafer, assisted by Rev. Guy P. Bready, of the Reformed Church. The pallbearers were Messrs. S. C. Ott, W. A. Bowers, G. Walter Wilt, Wm. F. Bricker, Milton A. Koons, and Paul Edwards. Interment was made in Mt. Carmel cemetery, Littlestown, the childhood home of Dr. Seiss, where his father Dr. Raymond S. Seiss practiced his profession for many years, and where most of his family is buried. He was a faithful member of the Lutheran Church, and a member of the choir, also a member of our Masonic Lodge. His age was 64 years, 9 months and 10 days. The funeral was in charge of C. O. Fuss & Son, and an undertaker from Washington who accompanied the body. Dr. Seiss is survived by his wife who was Miss Maggie Bollinger, and a newphew Harvey Seiss, and a niece Miss Marion Seiss, of Atlantic City, who are the last remaining members of the Seiss family, which was a very distinguished one. Dr. Joseph A. Seiss, deceased, of Philadelphia, was an uncle. Dr. Franklin H. Seiss was a resident of Littlestown a number of years ago. Adams County Independent, Thursday, July 12, 1923
