On Tuesday evening the child had been with her father in a field. The father had been burning brush and finishing his work started to the house with another man who had been helping him. He called to the child to follow and supposed she was following. The little one had been attracted by some blooming arbutus near a stump which had been near the fire. She got near the stump in her effort to get the flowers and her clothing caught fire. Her screams reached her father who rushed back to her help, but she was too severely burned to be saved and died on Wednesday from the burns. The funeral was held on Friday with interment in Biglerville Cemetery. Gettysburg Compiler – Wednesday, April 22, 1908
