Mr. Starry contracted the disease by having a tooth broken off and by having this tooth replaced. The tooth grew fast and the gum apparently healed, but in time developed the disease which caused his death. In order to prolong his life, a portion of the jaw bone was removed at a Philadelphia hospital in December, 1912. The operation proved unsuccessful. He suffered intense pain during his illness, but bore it patiently to the end. He was a member of the St. Mark’s Lutheran church of Heidlersburg, a member of the P. O. S. of A. Lodge of the same place, and a member of Jr. O. U. A. M. Lodge, of Hampton. The Hanover Herald – Saturday, July 26, 1913
