Glenn, Fairfield, Thursday evening at 8:20 o'clock from bronchial pneumonia. He became ill Monday evening. The deceased was the last of the family of Rufus C. and Evelyn (Forrest) Swope. He was a member of the Methodist church and was a charter member of the I.O.O.F. lodge of Fairfield. Mr. Swope operated the first telephone exchange in Fairfield for about 20 years during which he was employed by the Bell and United Telephone companies. Prior to his retirement he operated a shoe store in Fairfield. The deceased was twice married. His first wife was the former Lauretta Gelbach and his second wife the former Annie Watson. Surviving are the following children: Mrs. Ella M. Glenn, Fairfield; Walter, Baltimore; Guy, Pomona, California, and Stanley, Baltimore, all by his first marriage, and James, Fayetteville and Mrs. Sterling Rowe, Philadelphia, by his second marriage. Eight grandchildren and four great- grandchildren also survive. Funeral services from the Allison funeral home, Fairfield, Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock conducted by the Rev. Emmert G. Colestock, Enola, formerly of Fairfield. Interment in Union cemetery, Fairfield. Friends may call at the funeral home Saturday evening from 7 to 9 o'clock.
