Robert Wisler, Roy Hartman, Charles Deardorff and Quinton Deardorff. Among the floral tributes was one from Mrs. T. Stahle’s class, of the Reformed Sunday school at Gettysburg, of which she was a member. Miss Tate was secretary of the Union Sunday school at this place for a number of years, and an earnest and faithful correspondent of THE INDEPENDENT. She was aged 21 years, 4 months and 2 days. She will be greatly missed by her friends at this place. When the soft, green buds were bursting In the mild spring, evening gray, Came a whisper on the south wind, “Buried to-day.” Sturdy of heart and stout of limb, With eyes that shone with light from Him, Buried deep beneath the clay- Taken away. With all the pleasures of life just begun, With all the hope of a life yet to run; Yet who dare murmer when One says “nay,” Pass away. We lay her body beneath the sod, But angels waft her spirit away; And her happy soul through the pearly gates, Enters to-day. Adams County Independent, Saturday, April 25, 1896
