Weikert died last Thursday morning, July 10, at his home in Oxford township, Adams county, at the edge of New Oxford. He had been ill for some time. His age was 71 years, 11 months and 3 days. He was a retired farmer and a veteran of the Civil War. He was twice married, his first wife having died some years ago. He was married the second time to Miss Elizabeth Williams, a native of New Chester, who survives. Two daughters and three sons of his first marriage also survive. They are Mrs. Ira Klingle and Mrs. E. J. Treiber, of New Oxford; Edward and Luther Weikert, of Waynesboro, and Elmer Weikert in the west. Joseph W. Weikert, an only brother, lives near Gettysburg. Funeral was on last Saturday, July 12, services by Rev. C. W. Baker, of the Lutheran Church. Interment in the New Oxford Cemetery. Gettysburg Compiler – Wednesday, July 16, 1913
