Dr. Joseph A. Wolfe, a highly respected citizen of this place, passed to his reward last Monday 
night at the advanced age of 83 years, 6 months and 3 days.

The deceased was born and raised in East Berlin and was loved and respected by a host of 
friends in town and county.

When a young man he took up the study of medicine and followed the practice for many years.  He 
was a surgeon in the army during the Civil War.  He not only practiced medicine but conducted a 
drug store for a number of years, afterward retiring from the activities of life.

He leaves to mourn their loss his wife, two sisters and one brother, viz:  Mrs. Ellen Myers, of 
Kansas, Mrs. Jacob Resser, of this place, and John Wolf, of York.

The funeral services were held in the Lutheran church, of which the Doctor was a consistent 
member, on Thursday morning, his pastor, Rev. Dr. Clare, officiating; interment in the Union 
cemetery.
