David S. Martin of New Freedom, York County, was united in marriage to Miss Mary Sidney Byers, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John R. Byers, of Littlestown. The ceremony was performed by the pastor of the church, Rev. J. J. Hill, assisted by Rev. A. M. Heilman, pastor of St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church, of Hanover. In the wedding party were Miss Rose Baker, as maid of honor and Misses Lola Ramer, of Baltimore, Charlotte Sherwood, of York; Edna Hartman, of Arendtsville, and Miss Ottie Eby, of Hanover, as bridesmaids. The best man was Rev. Martin L. Clare, pastor of the Lutheran Church, at Spring Grove, Elmer Bush, of York, John Shaffer, Harry Freed and Frederick Harpenstine, of New Freedom, were the ushers. Miss Helen Byers and Master Austin Geiselman, sister and cousin of the bride serves as ribbon bearers. Following the ceremony a reception was held at the home of the bride, after which Rev. and Mrs. Martin left on a wedding trip of several weeks to Niagara Falls and points in Canada. They will reside at New Freedom, where the groom is pastor of the Lutheran Church. The groom is a graduate of the College and Seminary of this place, and is serving his first charge at New Freedom. The bride is a Normal School graduate and for several years has been teaching school in Adams Co. Gettysburg Compiler – Wednesday, June 24, 1908
