I John Mullen of Berwick Township in County of York and State of Pennsylvania = Yoeman, being very sick, and weak in body but of perfect mind and memory, thanks be given to god calling to mind the mortality of my body, Do make and ordain this my last will and Testament in manner and form following. I recommend my soul into the hand of Almight god that gave it, and my body, I recommend to the Earth to be buried in Decent Christian Burial at the Discretion of my Executors, and as touching such Worldly Estate wherewith it has pleased god to bless one in this Life, I give, devise and dispose of the same in the following manner and form that is to say, first, I will, that all these Debts and dues that I Owe in right and conscience to any manner of person or persons whatsoever, shall be well and truly contented and paid, or Ordained to be paid, within convenient time after my Decease, by the Executors hereafter named, in manner following, that is to say I order all the Debts contracted by me before the beginning of this present War to be paid in Money equal in Value to those Debts at the time or times they were contracted, and I farther order that the Leather which shall be in my House at the time of my Death be Worked and made into shoes for sale by a good tradesman to be hired for that purpose and likewise I farther order, That the Clock which is in my dwelling House at present and all the furniture that can be spared in my said Dwelling House, along with the shoes above mentioned when they are finished, by exposed to Sale by way of Public Vendue, for the payment of the remainder of my Debts. And I Will all the remainder of my estate for the support and maintenance of my well Beloved Wife Allice Mullen and my children, and in case it shall not be sufficient for that purpose, I will that my Eldest Daughter Deborah be bound and put out as an apprentice to some Creditable family, until she arrives at the age of Eighteen years. I likewise Will and Order, that my Well Beloved Son Ebenezer when he arrives to the Age of Fourteen Years, and I will my youngest Son Joshua to be used in like manner be bound as an Apprentice to some Trade of his own choosing, and continue bound to that Trade until he arrives to the Age of Twenty Years and no longer, and that he be bound Apprentice as above said to a Master who professes and adheres to the Principles of the church of Scotland Established by law, and to none else. I likewise Constitute make and Ordain James Taggert Junior and Edward Abbett both my Brothers in Law Executors of this my last Will and Testament, and I do hereby utterly disallow and Revoke all former Testaments, Wills, Legacies and Executors, Ratifying and Confirming this and no other to be my last Will and Testament. For Witness whereof I have here unto set my hand and Seal this fifteenth Day of November in the year of our Lord One thousand Seven hundred and eighty. Estate finalized with death of John Mullen's wife. Died intestate. Property disposed of to pay debts by the Executors. No mention of children's names in this document.
