BORN 1731, (Believed to have died in December of 1801 since the inventory of his estate was filed January 5, 1802.) Adams County, File 56 I Joshua Speakman of Huntington Township in in the County of Adams and State of Pennsylvania, Being of Sound disposing Mind & memory, And Considering The Mortality of my Body, Do make and Ordain this my last Will & Testament in manner following, that is to say first, It is my Will and so I order that all my Just Debts and Funeral Expenses shall be first paid. Item I Give, Devise & Bequeath to my son, Stephen Speakman All my present Dwelling Plantation, Tract of land & lands wheresoever Situated, Together with All The Rights Members Hereditments Improvements & Appartenances there unto belonging or in Anywise appertaining TO HAVE AND TO HOLD to him my said son Stephen, and to his Heirs and Assigns forever he paying there out to my other Children as follows. To wit to my son, Ebenezer Speakman the Sum of five Pounds Lawful money of Pennsylvania. To my son Thomas Speakman the Sum of five Pounds Lawful money of Pennsylvania. To my Daughter Hannah the Wife of Thomas Shepton, the Sum of Twenty Pounds Lawful money of Pennsylvania, To my Daughter Susanna the Wife of Jacob Cook the sum of Twenty Pounds Lawful Money of Pennsylvania. To my Daughter Joanna the Wife of Robert Squibb the Sum of Twenty Pounds Lawful money of Pennsylvania, To my daughter Phebe the Wife of Robert Morthland the Sum of Twenty Pounds Lawful money of Pennsylvania And to the Children of my Son James Speakman deceased namnely Willis Speakman, Elizabeth Spreakman and James Speakman to Each the sum of five shillings Lawful moneyof Pennsylvania in full for their shares of my Estate Being as much as their Father Bequeathed to them in his last Will. I also give & i bequeath to my said son Stephen my Waggon, Horse Gears(sp? could be guns ) & all Accountraments thereunto belonging. And as touching the Residue of my Estate, It is my Will that the same may be sold as soon as may be Convenient after my decease and that the Money from thence Arising shall be Equally divided among my abovenamed Children TO WIT Ebenezer, Thomas, hannah, Susanna, Joanna, Phebe and Stephen. All which Legacies as above and before mentioned I allow for the full shares of my aforesaid Children of in and to my Estate: having before considered them as Children and individually for any Extra Service by them herebefore for me done; It is also my Will that my said son Stephen shall not be Compelled to pay any of the aforesaid Legacies arising from my land sonner than One Year after my decease and that the said Legacies shall then be paid in a Yearly Rotation beginning with my son Ebenezer then Thomas, Hannah, Susanna, Joanna, Phebe then the Children of my said son James Speakman deceased. Except his Circumstances Shall Enable him to pay sooner without being oppressed he having had the trouble and Care of me in my Old Age. (a few words too dim to read) And lastly I nominate and appoint my trusty friend Allen Robbinett and my trusty son Stephen Speakman Executors of this my last Will in trust for the true intent and meaning in this my last Will Contained And I hereby Revoke All former Wills heretofore by me made.
