David Singleton (1800-1863) married Mary Singleton (1804-1875). They are listed in the 1860 Pennsylvania Census with David as a 60 year old white male, occupation farmer and his wife, Mary as a 58 year old white female. They had five children. B-1. David Singleton, Jr. moved to Erie, Pa. His obituary record reads "David M. Singleton at Erie, Pa. March 5, 1880 at 2:20 o'clock. Funeral from residence 18th Street, near Peach Street. Philadelphia and Norristown papers please copy." B-2. Oswell R. Singleton, b. 1827; died August 28, 1908. He never married. Oswell served in the Civil War having enlisted with the Union Army on August 26, 1862. He was a Pvt. Co. C. 14 Regt. Pa. Calvary. The U. S. Census Population Schedules-Pittsburgh-19th Census on page 573 lists Oswell R. Singleton as being a forty year old whilte male who was born in Pennsylvania and engine building was listed as his occupation. He worked for the Union Pacific Railroad in North Platte, Nebraska and in Evanston, Wyoming. He sent money to his younger sister, Carrie, in Pine Twp. to build a new farmhouse and barn there. He and his brother David had purchased fifty acres in Pine Twp. on September 5, 1854 from Augustus Miller and his wife Friederika for the sum of $1,800.00. Deed Book Vol, 116, p. 86. He retired to the farm in Pine Twp. and died there on August 28, 1908. He was laid out in the parlor there. His obituary reads "On Friday, August 28, 1908 at 11 p.m. Oswell Singleton in his 81st year. Funeral Services will be held in his late residence in Pine Township, near Wexford, on Monday, August 31, at 1 p.m. Friends of the family are respectfully invited to attend." B-3. Lewis Singleton served in the Civil War as a Pvt. Co. K9 Regt. Pa. Infantry. He mustered in to the Union Army on July 18, 1861 and was discharged on a surgeon's certificate on October 6, 1862. In the 1860 Pennsylvania Census it lists Lewis Singleton as 19 years old and a laborer. He died January 9, 1888. B-4. John Henry Singleton, b. Dec. 19, 1844 in Norristown, Pa., d. Feb. 14, 1921 in North Platte, Nebraska. He served the Union Army in the Civil War as a Prt. Co. E. 136th Pennsylvania Infantry. He married Miss Matilda Scott in Pittsburgh, Pa. and moved to North Platte in the month of September of 1874. He was a construction foreman with the Union Pacific Railroad. B-5. Caroline E. Singleton "Carrie", b. 1846, d. 1912. Married John Dickson Emmett in 1877. They had one daughter, Susannia. (John D. Emmett suffered from kidney disease and died at age 45 in 1888.) Later married George Utz. She lived with her brother Oswell and oversaw the building of the house and barn. In his will, Oswell R. Singleton, a single person, leaves the house, barn, and ground along with $365.80 money in the bank, and a gold watch valued at $10.00 to his sister Caroline Utz formerly Singleton upon his death. C-1. Susannia "Annie" Emmett, b. August 10, 1881, d. March 17, 1964. Married John Rushnock (b. July 30, 1883 in Austria; d. 1950 at home in Pine Twp.) They were married on April 4, 1906 in Mars, Pa. Their marriage license lists his occupation as a farmer. They had two daughters. D-1. Grace Irene Rushnock D-2. Blanche Emmett Rushnock, b. Dec. 18, 1910, d. Nov. 24, 1983. She married Louis T. Schmidt at Salem Methodist Church in Wexford, Pa. They continued to live in the farm in Pine Twp. They had three children. Today the farm is still in the family and is owned and operated by one of Blanche's granddaughters.
