We encourage links to the state and county table of contents. http://www.usgwarchives.net/ =========================================================================== Civil War: Company D, 149th PA Volunteers Company D, 149th PA Volunteers - company roster as it appears in "General History of Company D 149th Pennsylvania Volunteers & Personnel Sketches of the Members" compiled by John W Nesbit with the assistance of the Committee and other members and friends of the Company, printed by The Oakdale Printing and Publishing Co, 1908. Company D, 149th Pennsylvania Volunteers was recruited in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania in August 1862, and was composed principally of young men from Pittsburg(h), Noblestown, Mansfield, Miller's Run, Clinton and other adjacent localities. A preliminary enlistment of part of the Company was effected at a public meeting held at Robinson's Run, better known as the "Hill Church." At this meeting the excitement and enthusiasm was intense. After the meeting the headquarters of the Company was transferred to a room on Fifth Street, Pittsburg(h), Pa. After 84 men had been enlisted with James Glenn as Captain, and Jacob F. Slagle and William M. Dalgleish as 1st and 2nd Lieutenants, the Company was mustered in August 22nd, 1862. A history of this company was published ca 1889 in a local newspaper, the Oakdale Times. In 1907, it was decided to revise and enlarge the original newspaper articles which lead to the publication of a hard cover book.
