ELLENBERGER HOME Lieutenant J. W. Ellenberger, who has been in the army for the past year, has been honorably discharged from service and is enjoying a rest with relatives in Tyrone. Dr. Ellenberger, who had been located in Wilkinsburg, enlisted in the service last February and was sent to Fort Oglethorpe, where he took advanced work in his specialty (heart and lungs). After six weeks he was ordered to the base hospital staff at Camp Beauregard, Louisiana, where he continued his special work. Due to his efficiency, Lieutenant Ellenberger was recommended for a captain's commission prior to the signing of the armistice. This action, however, stopped both the granting and advancing of commissions. After a short visit with friends, Dr. Ellenberger will return to Wilkinsburg to resume his practice. He will be accompanied by Mrs. Ellenberger, who, with the exception of three months in Louisiana, has spent the past year in Tyrone with her parents, Hon. Harry A. Thompson and wife, on Lincoln avenue. Altoona Tribune, Friday, January 3, 1919
