Ball, 81, of 1517 First St., Natrona Heights, was dead on arrival yesterday (Sept 20, 1978)at 9:45 a.m. pn Allegheny Valley Hospital, Natrona Heights. He had been ill one year. The Tarentum area resident since 1917 was born in Parnassus, New Kensington, on June 5, 1897, to Henry and Emma Darrell Ball. He was a former Canton and Alliance, Ohio resident. Mr. Ball was a former auditor for Tarentum Borough and the former Tarentum School District. For a number of years, he served as secretary of Pittsburgh and Tarentum Camp Meeting Association of which he was a member for 39 years. Before retiring in 1961, he was employed by Allegheny Ludlum Steel Corp. in Brackenridge and Pittsburgh for 42 years and was a payroll supervisor. Mr. Ball was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Brackenridge, and the church's X.L. Sunday School Class. He was a member of Pollock Lodge 502 of F&AM in Tarentum, Pittsburgh Consistory, Syria Temple of Pittsburgh and the MORA Club in Tarentum. An avid gardener, he enjoyed raising roses. On Jan. 15, 1955, he and the former Mary Hermann McNulty were married. Besides hiscwife of 23 years, he is survived by three daughters: Mrs. Harry J. (Jeanne) Meckey Jr. and Mrs. Ruth Jendrey, both of Natrona Heights, and Mrs. John (Doris) Dickenson of Middletown; a step-son, George McNulty of Phoenix, Ariz.; 20 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; a brother, Darrell of Canton, Ohio; a half-brother, Mitchell Ball of Canton, Ohio, and a half- sister, Mrs. E.H. (Eliza) John of Cleveland. His first wife of 37 years, Mrs. Elisabeth Ross Ball, died in 1954. ---- The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 and tomorrow from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the Krynicki Funeral Home Inc., Second at Corbet, Tarentum. His pastor, the Rev. Jack G. Ammon, will conduct a service Saturday at 11 a.m. in Trinity United Methodist Church, Brackenridge. Burial will be in Mount Airy Cemetery, Natrona Heights, MORA Club members will conduct a service tomorrow at 3:30 p.m. and Pollock Lodge 502 members will conduct a service tomorrow at 9 p.m., both in the funeral home. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Trinity United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, Brackenridge.
