The body was terribly mutilated, a train having past across it below the shoulders, severing the head from the body. He boarded at 691 Penn avenue. He had been paid the evening previous, and had got intoxicated. He was employed on the Allegheny Valley Railroad, was about forty years of age. He leaves a wife and nine children residing in England. A verdict of accidental death was rendered. from the City of Pittsburgh Death Records: John BRANAGAN, aged 40 years, single, laborer, died July 15, 1873, killed on the AVRR in the 12th Ward; born in Ireland; lived at Penn and 18th Avenue; burial in Union Dale Cemetery on July 17, 1873.
