All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/pa/allegheny/ ________________________________________________ Taken from McDonald Pa Outlook 17 Feb 1921 On Tuesday afternoon, February 8, 1921 at 2:30 o'clock, Mr. Thomas CALDWELL passed away at his home on Clinton avenue, Oakdale. Mr. CALDWELL had been a sufferer for several years and for the past eight suffered greatly until death claimed him. His death was due to enlargement of spleen. He was born in County Antrim, Ireland, December 9, 18(6?)0 and at the age of 15 he entered service with a harness maker, as an apprentice, in the town of Bellamana and served six years. In February, 1880 he came to America and located in Pittsburgh remaining there until 1890 when he moved to Carnegie, working there for three years. In 1893 he came to Oakdale where he opened a harness and repair shop, starting on a small scale. Mr. CALDWELL was very successful and by close application to business coupled with industry and energy, he established a business which was profitable to himself and creditable to the community. He was classed as one of the leading business men of the town. He was a member of the Presbyterian church. In 1900 he was married to Miss Anna DAIZELL of Pittsburgh, who died February 9th, 1905. He is survived by a sister in Ireland and a brother and several nephews of Pittsburgh. Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the First Presbyterian church of Oakdale conducted by the Rev. W. D. LEWIS. Music was furnished by Messrs. WILT, WEAVER, Mrs. MOORE and Mrs. LASHER. Interment was made in the CALDWELL lot in the Oakdale cemetery. Two beautiful floral emblems, one by the men who stood faithfully by him in his recent illness and the other from Mr. Ed. JENNINGS of Pittsburgh.
