One eye will be lost. He was removed to the West Penn hospital. (under an article titled, Echoes of the Night) from The Pittsburgh Commercial Gazette dated Thursday, March 12, 1896 (page 2): Samuel CASEY, 30 years old and a coal miner, died at 6:19 am yesterday at the West Penn hospital. He was struck by a Panhandle express at If-ey station at 2 o'clock yesterday morning. from the City of Pittsburgh Death Records: Samuel CASEY, aged 30 years, married, coal miner, died March 11, 1896, in West Penn Hospital, injuries received on the PC&StL Railroad; son of James and Mary CASEY, both of Scotland; born in Scotland; lived in Iffney (?) PA; burial in a Crafton PA cemetery on March 13, 1896.
