All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/pa/allegheny/ ________________________________________________ from The Pittsburgh Gazette dated Saturday, September 13, 1902: John CLAMPY, aged 30 years, an engineer on the Baltimore & Ohio railroad, was fatally injured at 4 o'clock yesterday afternoon, while recovering his hat. His engine stopped in the city limits and CLAMPY's hat blew off. He left the cab to recover it and while stooping to pick it up, was struck by another engine and hurled several yards. He was taken to the McKeesport hospital. CLAMPY boarded with Mrs Patrick CASEY, on Second avenue, Glenwood. The physicians at the hospital say there is small chance for his recovery, as his skull is badly fractured.
