from The Pittsburgh Press dated Sunday, November 11, 1888 (page 2):
 
A BRAKEMAN KILLED - T J CLIFFORD, a brakeman on the Lake Erie road,
was fatally injured in the yards on the South Side about 1 o'clock
this morning. He died in about 15 minutes. The body was taken to the
morgue.
 
from The Pittsburgh Press dated Monday, November 12, 1888 (page 5):
 
P J CLIFFORD, a Lake Erie brakeman, was killed in the Lake Erie yards
Saturday night by a shifting engine. (under an article titled, Echoes
of the Night)
 
 
from the City of Pittsburgh Death Records:
 
Patrick CLIFFORD, age 23 years 6 months, single, railroad brakeman,
died November 11, 1888, run over on the P & LE railroad in the 34th
Ward; born in Schuylkill County PA; lived on Grace Street; burial in
St Mary's Cemetery on November 13, 1888.
