Coyne, 54, Munhall chief of police, died of cancer Wednesday in his home. Mr. Coyne, of East Eugene Avenue, had been chief for the past nine years and had served on the borough police force for 29 years. He was an organizer, life member and former chief of Munhall Volunteer Fire Station 5. Mr. Coyne was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police, the Chiefs of Police Association and the Internal Association of Identification. He is survivied by his wife, Arlene Mang Coyne; two daughters Norma and Kelly; two sons, Michael and Anthony; two brothers, Martin and Lawrence, both of Munhall; and six sisters, Ann Buban, Noreen Terrick, Barbara Suto, Patricia Hilla and Kathleen Coyne, all of Munhall, and Rita Mayo of Cherry Hill, N.J. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow and Sunday in Savolskis-Wasik-Glenn Funeral Home Inc., 3501 Main St., Munhall. A Mass will be said at 11 a.m. Monday in St. Therese Church, Main Street, Munhall. Coyne Munhall Police Chief, James J. Coyne, 54, died of cancer Wednesday at his home. Chief Coyne was a member of the Munhall force for 29 years, the last nine as chief. "We lost a true leader," said Munhall Mayor Raymond Bodnar. "He was a very compassionate individual, a first-class guy. "I'm certainly going to miss him as a friend and as mayor. I regard this as a deep personal loss." Chief Coyne was an organizer, member and former chief of Munhall No. 5 Volunteer Fire Co. He as also a member of the Fraternal Order of Police and the Chiefs of Police Association. He is survived by his wife, Arlene Mang Coyne; two sons, Michael and Anthony and two daughters, Norma and Kelly Coyne, all at home; two brothers Martin and Lawrence, both of Munhall and six sisters, Rita Mayo of Cherry Hill, N.J. and Ann Buban, Noreen Terrick, Barbara Suto, Patricia Hilla and Kathleen Coyne, all of Munhall. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow and Sunday at the Savolskis-Wasik-Glenn Funeral Homes Inc., 3501 Main St., Munhall. A requiem mass will be offered at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Therese Roman Catholic Church, Main St., Munhall, followed by burial in St. John Cemetery, Munhall.
