At 4:45 this morning Moorehead & Co.'s blast furnace on Second avenue, in the Fourteenth Ward in this city, exploded near the tap hole. Michael Halpin was struck and knocked down by a stream of molten iron, which was then scattered over him. He was horribly burned, and lingered in terrible agony till 9:30 a. m., when death ensued. Edward Crosder, a young man, was burned on the back of his legs and side of head. He can scarcely recover. Jacob Brawner was also burnt on the face and body, but not so seriously.
