from The Pittsburgh Press dated Saturday, June 3, 1899 (page 3):
 
Patrick DEVINE, one of the oldest brakemen in the employ of the
Pennsylvania railroad, died at his home, 3323 Dickson street, from
injuries received while coupling cars. He was 55 years old. (under
an article titled, Echoes of the Night)
 
from The Pittsburgh Press dated Sunday, June 4, 1899 (page 22):
 
DEVINE - On Friday, June 2, 1899, at 7:05 pm, Patrick DEVINE, in his
57th year. Funeral from his late residence, 3233 Dixon street, on
Monday, June 5, at 8:30 am. Services at St John's church,
Thirty-second street, at 9 am. Members of Branch 66, C M B A, and
friends of the family are respectfully invited to attend.
 
 
from the City of Pittsburgh Death Records:
 
Patrick DEVINE, age 57 years, married, railroad brakeman, died June 2,
1899, injuries received while trying to board a train in motion; son
of Patrick and Margaret DEVINE, both of Ireland; born in Ireland;
lived at 3233 Dickson; burial in St Mary's Cemetery on June 5, 1899.
 
 
Census notes wife Jane with children Katherine, John, Annie, William,
Hugh, Edward, Francis, and Mary.
