from The Pittsburgh Press dated Friday, July 6, 1900 (page 9):
 
Alex J DEVINNEY, a yard brakeman employed by the Lake Erie company at
the West Carson street yards, was killed by a shifting engine last
evening. He was piloting a draft of cars and was caught between two
of them. He resided on Carson street. (under an article titled,
Casualty Record)
 
 
from the City of Pittsburgh Death Records:
 
Alexander G DEVENNY, age 28 years, married, brakeman, died July 5,
1900, instantly killed on P & LE Railroad; son of Alexander & Lide
DEVENNY; born in PA; lived at 35 Anderson Street: burial in Fallston
PA cemetery on July 8, 1900.
