DR. JOHN EDMUNDSON Dr. John Edmundson, aged 84 years, one of the well known characters of the Monongahela valley and who is especially familiar in Glassport and Portvue boroughs, died at the McKeesport hospital last evening from a complication of diseases. He was taken to that institution about three weeks ago by his relative, L. H. Edmundson of Glassport, who found him at the time in a most precarious condition back in Lincoln township. Funeral services will be conducted tomorrow afternoon at the Edmundson cemetery, located back on the hill at Glassport. During his early life deceased taught school in Elizabeth township, that was possibly in 1850. Later he studied for a preacher and followed the teachings of the Baptist church. He was regarded as a very able preacher and was considered one of the best posted men on the Bible in the county at that time. He lived the life of a bachelor. He never cared to be a burden to anyone and was quite independent in his way. He carried various kinds of medicines in his satchel and seemed to enjoy talking to strangers about the Bible, and was always loud in his praise of the men who were honest in politics and stood for the right. He was firm in his belief that the world was getting worse every day. He was the son of Alexander Edmundson. The Edmundsons of the borough are nearly all relatives of the dead man, and will attend the funeral.
