MARY EDMUNDSON CALLED TO THAT BETTER COUNTRY Sketch of Her Life, Was an Old Resident of the Monongahela Valley, Conscious to the Last A gloom of profound sorrow pervades the home of W. C. Edmundson, on Ohio avenue, where his aged mother lies cold in death. A glimpse upon the face of the departed could but only remind one of a calm and peaceful sleep. While it is actually the sleep of death, yet all who knew the aged Christian lady know that she lives in the brighter realms above. In this there is great cause for rejoicing. And yet while the loved ones left behind, cannot refrain from weeping they feel that mother was too precious to lay away beneath the green sod of earth. Her ending was a peaceful one, she being conscious to the last, and during her entire sickness never once uttered a word that would bring discomfort to the hearts of those of her family who were always at her bedside. Death came to Mrs. Mary Edmundson, who was the widow of the late A. C. Edmundson yesterday shortly after the noon hour. She was in the 72d year of her age. She had been in excellent health till about two weeks ago when she caught a cold, which later developed into pneumonia. This together with the ailments which attend one of her advanced years, caused her death. A. C. Edmundson, her husband, died over 20 years ago. Deceased was a devout Christian woman, mindful more of the welfare of others, than herself. For 54 years she was a member of the First Presbyterian church of McKeesport. Recently she united by letter with the same denomination at Glassport. Before her marriage she was Miss Mary Boyd, of Elizabeth township, and was married 54 years ago. When she was married she came to the old homestead now the I. I. Weddle property here, and lived for 45 years, when with her family she moved to Otto. She is survived by four sisters and one brother: Mrs. H. J. Douglas, of Philadelphia; Mrs. Robert Finney of Elizabeth; Mrs. John Pearse of Sutersville; Mrs. James Pierce, of Boston, and John Boyd, a twin brother of Elizabeth township. She is also survived by four daughters and two sons; Mrs. I. I. Weddell, of Glassport; Mrs. W. T. Mahaffey, of Cherry Tree, Pa.; Mrs. J. H. Humphrey, of Cincinnati, O., and Mrs. J. H. Trimble, of Portvue; J. B. and W. C. Edmundson, of Glassport. The funeral services will be conducted this evening at 7:30 o’clock at the residence of W. C. Edmundson. Rev. M. H. Bush will officiate. Tomorrow morning the remains will be taken to the home of her daughter, Mrs. I. I. Weddle, formerly the old homestead. Tomorrow afternoon at 2:30 o’clock, Rev. Mr. Bush will hold additional services after which the interment will be made in the old Edmundson burying ground. It is expected that a large number of persons will attend both services. The family have the sympathy of the community in the hour of their bereavement.
